Can a Divas division divided against itself stand? The Bella Twins’ dominance of the ladies’ locker room has forced the femme fatales of WWE to either side with the twins or with lone rabble-rouser Paige, but The Diva of Tomorrow has her work cut out for her if Raw’s latest development is any indication. Taking on Naomi & Tamina, who have taken up a neutral stance in the inter-Diva conflict, The Bellas – flanked by “Team Bella” member Alicia Fox – continued their winning ways. They didn’t need Twin Magic to do it, but twin teamwork sufficed just fine when Nikki shoved an interfering Tamina straight into the Rear View and followed up with a Rack Attack to seal the contest.
Is Paige fighting a battle she can’t win?
Despite her best efforts, Paige might be learning the hard way that there’s just no beating The Bella Twins. After failing to capture the Divas Championship at Money in the Bank, The Diva of Tomorrow tried to rally the locker room against Nikki & Brie, attempting to institute real change in the Divas division. Unfortunately, Divas Champion Nikki — claiming a strong connection to The Authority — defused Paige’s efforts moments later.
After falling to both Bellas in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match on Raw, Paige was defeated by Brie on SmackDown, thanks in no small part to interference by Alicia Fox. Is Fox now actually in league with The Bella Twins? If so, how many others aligned with Nikki & Brie?
Brie Bella defeated Paige
Alicia Fox pushed Paige off the top rope, allowing Brie Bella to hit The Diva of Tomorrow with the Bella Buster for a big SmackDown victory. The Bellas then presented Alicia with their colors, indicating that Miss Fox had chosen to align with the prominent twins.
The Bella Twins def. Paige
Paige’s one-woman crusade for change in the Divas division isn’t exactly panning out the way she’d probably like. First, her town-hall meeting with the women’s locker room was met with crickets, and then, when none of the ladies answered her call for a tag partner against The Bella Twins, Nikki & Brie handily dismantled the two-time Divas Champion in a Handicap Match. Even after Paige briefly caused the twins to take each other out with a miscommunication, Nikki rescued Brie from the Ram-Paige and sealed the match with a forearm to the face and the Rack Attack. The empire lives on.
COLUMBUS, Ohio – As determined as she is to create change within the Divas division, Paige was ultimately unable to unseat Nikki Bella as Divas Champion at Money in the Bank, where Twin Magic ultimately succeeded in keeping the prestigious prize in The Bella Twins’ clutches — but not in the way you might think.
As the entire Divas locker room looked on, Paige used a varied arsenal of submission holds to bring the fight to the egotistical Nikki, whose championship reign had soared to 203 days since Brie helped her sister secure the title at Survivor Series the previous year. Brie was conspicuous in her absence earlier in the bout, leading many to believe that Nikki was out to prove that she didn’t need Twin Magic — Nikki & Brie’s referee-duping switcheroo routine — to turn back The Diva of Tomorrow. Alas, after Nikki nearly suffered a pinfall defeat via Paige’s signature RamPaige maneuver, the deceitful champion went out to ringside and swapped places with Brie, who was lying in wait underneath the ring.
Although Twin Magic had succeeded in Paige and Nikki’s last Divas Championship clash on the June 1 edition of Raw, the raven-haired challenger turned the tables on Brie and scored a pinfall on the replacement Bella. Caught, Brie revealed her deception to the referee, and in the confusion, Nikki ambushed Paige with a big right hand, following it up with a Rack Attack. With a three-count, Nikki secured her place on the throne, proving that Paige’s passionate desire for change is no match for the machinations of The Bella Twins.
Victorious, The Bella Twins proved that when it comes to Paige regaining the Divas Championship, the sinister sisters’ entrance music rings true: You can look, but you can’t touch.
