Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan head to Las Vegas for a weekend of fun with Renee Young and Dean Ambrose, who have invited Braniel to spend some time at their house. Only Brie somewhat unexpectedly invites Nikki as well at the last minute, which sends Renee into a panic since that’s one more guest than she was ready to accommodate. Nikki pretty astutely realizes she’s the odd woman out, but Renee puts on a brave face and tries ridiculously hard to show everyone the time of their lives, which of course leads to a minor disaster at a barbecue. However, the three women eventually take a day to themselves, partially to give Renee an outlet to just relax and enjoy their company.
The status of Nikki Bella and Daniel Bryan’s relationship is still complicated following their big blow up on Total Bellas, as they haven’t really spent any time together since then despite more or less burying the hatchet. Brie thinks inviting Nikki to stay with her and Bryan in Aberdeen is a good way to mend the relationship, and Nikki goes so far as to try to buy a literal olive branch for D-Bry (she settles on an apple tree). But The Fearless One has a slight ulterior motive in mind: She wants Bryan to train her for her comeback. Brie, however, puts the kibosh on any and all wrestling talk around Bryan, so things just get more and more awkward until Bryan, in an attempt to make conversation, asks how Nikki’s comeback is going. At this point, Brie bristles and Nikki reveals she’s under a gag order before storming out of brunch. Besides feeling somewhat insulted that Brie didn’t think he can handle talking about WWE, Bryan explains that talking about Nikki’s comeback is something that might actually help their relationship, since he’s genuinely interested in it. At this point, the relationship is mended and Bryan starts to give Nikki some new ideas, including a prototype for a new version of the Rack Attack.
Brie Bella’s attempt to get pregnant with Daniel Bryan seem to have finally paid off on E!’s Total Divas … until it turns out they haven’t yet. While Brie is disappointed, the close call does make her realize her wild-child days are numbered and, if she really is going to be a mom, she had better make the most of it before she is. Sexy bathing suit photoshoots and Brie Mode ensue, and it’s Nikki who ends up having to talk her sister down and remind her that having a child doesn’t mean Brie is never going to look good or have fun again.
Despite Brie Bella’s retirement from the ring, she’s busier than ever. She and Nikki are recruited to grace the cover of Latina magazine and walk a red carpet at an event in support of their lingerie line, Birdiebee. Only problem is, Brie keeps trying to get home in order to begin starting a family with Daniel Bryan. Nikki is iffy about this turn of events, and keeps trying to talk Brie out of it. At first, Brie thinks it’s a combination of jealousy and selfishness on her business-oriented sister’s part, but turns out Nikki is worried that Bryan isn’t ready to have kids in light of his recent depression. Brie checks in with her husband and he admits that he’s worried about passing his depression onto their child, but their long-term plans still remain the same.
Brie Bella’s last match is set to go down at WrestleMania, but she unfortunately can’t bring herself to enjoy it. For one, a still-depressed Daniel Bryan has opted not to come to Dallas, since he’s not a part of WrestleMania. For another, former Diva Maryse has come back into the fold, and some bad blood between the two resurfaces almost immediately (poor fellow newcomer Renee Young can do nothing but get out of their way in an awkward dinner argument). And, finally, Nikki Bella straight-up accuses Brie (and everyone else, for that matter) of overlooking her pain in favor of pitying Bryan. It’s all very stressful. But it turns out great when Brie goes out with a bang by winning the 10-Diva Tag Team Match, and Nikki, upon catching a glimpse of the new WWE Women’s Championship, vows to return stronger than ever to take the title for herself.
Fans of the show may remember Renee’s multiple appearances on the series, mostly alongside close friends Nikki Bella and Brie Bella. But did the twins offer up any words of wisdom before she signed on full-time? Surprisingly, no.
“I was lucky being able to shoot with Brie and Nicole earlier on,” Renee explains. “I learned from the best. I got to see how they did it, how they handled the cameras, how they handled the way the show comes together, so I do feel lucky I was able to see that. It’s definitely different when you’re put in the driver’s seat a little bit more.”
“I didn’t really ask for that much advice,” she continues. “I kind of like to live and learn on my own and test the waters. I like to do things my own way.”
