John Cena’s ESPYs-hosting gig is coming up, and the entire Bella family is joining Nikki and Brie on the red carpet. That means the twins have to give their mother and brother a crash course in being camera-ready and giving interviews, which would be fine if J.J, wasn’t being so defensive. The Bella brother doesn’t just toss Nikki’s phone in a Jacuzzi when she doesn’t put it down, he gives a practice answer to a question that makes it sound like he’d rather Cena and Nikki never get engaged. But, luckily, they ace their red carpet appearance and Cena kills it as the host.
Renee Young is third-wheeling it with Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan on a weekend getaway, since Dean Ambrose’s then-current stint as WWE Champion means his free time is next to zero and he has less opportunities than ever to travel for fun. The oncoming Brand Extension is especially distressing to Renee because there’s a good chance she and Ambrose will be split up in the Draft and their time together could be cut down to the absolute minimum. Ambrose ends up surprising Renee with a trip to Big Sur, so that ends up working out, but Brie and Bryan are more than relieved they don’t have to deal with juggling the outside world with the hustle and bustle of WWE now that they’re retired.
At least, of course, until Bryan gets a call from WWE offering him a mystery gig that he’s not entirely sure he wants to accept. He’s unwilling to take an office job or a backstage job, but is on the fence about whether or not he’d consider a role on TV. Brie, who’s still trying to get pregnant, is miffed at the idea of having to reorganize their life once again around WWE but she knows Bryan could use some good news lately and gives her blessing anyway. Luckily, it only turns out to be a commentary gig for the Cruiserweight Classic, which means it’s not a giant time commitment and Bryan’s smile comes back for the first time in months. Yes!
Nikki Bella and John Cena’s incompatible schedules mean The Bella Twins are spending a lot of time together, in particular a weekend trip to Napa Valley. Nikki has decided to take things one step further and potentially start a Bella wine label, but Brie isn’t on board with the new venture even after they take a tour around California wine country to get an idea of how the vintage is made. Brie remains unconvinced, however, even going so far as to imply that Nikki is only undertaking these business ventures so she can be as busy as Cena. Daniel Bryan kinda-sorta sets her straight over the phone, and by the episode’s end it seems like fences have been mended and Brie supports the wine venture. And she has to massage Nikki’s feet as a peace offering.
Total Divas will return with a new episode on E! this Wednesday night. There will be a season six marathon that begins at 1pm EST on Wednesday, leading up to the new episode.
So, in case you haven’t noticed, The Bella Twins are really competitive with each other. Like, Nikki still holds a rodeo win over Brie’s head decades down the line. Somehow, the question comes up during Brie and Daniel Bryan’s week in California of which twin is smarter. Bryan, who’s practically melting with amusement over all of this, arranges an IQ test between the sisters, though they decide at the last minute to throw the results out and never speak of it again. But Brie, who’s hungry for a win over Nikki and convinced she’s the smarter one, fishes the results out of the garbage to sneak a peek. She’s quickly caught, but that’s not the worst of it: When the results are ultimately tallied, it turns out Nikki has Brie beat by about 20 IQ points. Ya burnt.
Tune in to an all-new episode of Total Divas in the new year on Jan. 4 at 9/8 C on E!
