Following another heated altercation last week, the captain of SmackDown LIVE’s 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Women’s Elimination Match, Nikki Bella, will square off against longstanding adversary Carmella tonight.
Will The Fearless Nikki finally teach some respect to The Princess of Staten Island? Will coach Natalya and the other members of the team look to play a part in the outcome? And what effect will their ongoing altercation have on Team Blue’s chances of reigning supreme over Team Red at Survivor Series?
Another Nikki Bella vs. Carmella match with the added storyline that Natayla, the coach of the SmackDown Live women’s Survivor Series team, can’t figure out how to get everyone on the same page.
Last night on Raw, Charlotte was named team captain and added Nia Jax and Bayley to her team representing the red brand at Survivor Series on Nov. 20, 2016, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. There are two names to come.
Tonight, SmackDown Live named each member of its team. They are:
In addition, Natalya was named the special coach of the team after pleading with General Manager Daniel Bryan and Commissioner Shane McMahon.

The Women’s team representing SmackDown LIVE in its battle against Raw at Survivor Series 2016 now has a captain, and she is Fearless.
Nikki Bella, the longest-reigning Divas Champion in WWE history, will lead Team Blue into action against Team Red in Nov. 20’s showdown between the brands’ top female Superstars.
The Fearless Superstar earned the right by defeating Natalya on SmackDown LIVE Oct. 25. According to a pre-match ruling by SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan, the victor of that contest would automatically be named the team captain, while the loser would lose her chance at participating in the highly anticipated team fight.
Now that its Women’s team captain is known, how will SmackDown LIVE round out its army of Superstars? And when will Raw management begin to assemble their own team of female Superstars for WWE’s fall classic?
The 5-on-5 Traditional Survivor Series Women’s Elimination Match takes place at Survivor Series 2016 on Sunday, Nov. 20, live on the award-winning WWE Network.
Carmella craves the spotlight, but the ever-fabulous competitor will find out if she can rise to the occasion when she faces the longest-reigning Divas Champion in history, Nikki Bella, this Sunday at WWE No Mercy.
The Princess of Staten Island has targeted Bella ever since SummerSlam, when Fearless Nikki made a triumphant and unannounced return from a career-threatening neck injury, pinning Carmella to win SmackDown LIVE’s Six-Woman Tag Team Match.
Believing that Nikki’s comeback stole attention away from her WWE pay-per-view debut (in her home state, no less), Carmella revealed a newly vicious demeanor in the weeks that followed. She wasted no opportunity to attack Nikki, going so far as to ambush her on the set of Talking Smack, and Carmella has even pinned her more experienced rival, too, in tag action.
This Sunday, the young lioness looks to achieve the biggest victory of her WWE career at the expense of the most decorated athlete in Team Blue’s Women’s division. Don’t miss this pivotal showdown when SmackDown LIVE’s brand-exclusive No Mercy takes over WWE Network this Sunday at 8 ET/5 PT.
Alexa Bliss has wasted no time in making her mark on SmackDown LIVE, capturing the right to battle Becky Lynch for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at No Mercy and, most recently, attacking the titleholder from behind as the Irish Lass Kicker was emerging for a match.
However, is she the hottest competitor in the Women’s division? Carmella has proven herself to be extremely vicious, relentlessly targeting the always-game Nikki Bella with several assaults and even pinning the Fearless Superstar in tag team action last week.
Despite these hungry up-and comers making so much noise against the likes of Becky and Nikki, one must be careful not to turn her back on the likes of Naomi or Natalya – or they might just end up paying a very painful price.
SmackDown LIVE’s turbulent Women’s division is stronger than ever
To say that the SmackDown LIVE’s Women’s division is on fire would be an understatement. Last week, the WWE Universe watched as Alexa Bliss literally turned the tables on SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch during their No Mercy Contract Signing, only to suffer an Irish Lass Kicking for her efforts. On the same night, Carmella was so anxious to once again get her hands on Nikki Bella that she snatched her target away from her own partner’s Sharpshooter.
There’s no doubt that Alexa will do whatever it takes to gain momentum en route to her pay-per-view title opportunity. It will be interesting to see if “Becky Balboa” has what it takes to withstand her relentless assault. And when you consider that Nikki Bella has never been one to let stand any aggression toward her, The Princess of Staten Island had better watch her back.
Last week, Carmella once again took out Nikki Bella, the competitor perceived by many to be the favorite heading into the Six-Pack Challenge at Backlash to crown the first SmackDown Women’s Champion this Sunday.
However, that conflict is quite frankly just the tip of the iceberg, as the entire Women’s division – from seasoned battlers to hungry up-and-comers – are all clamoring to prove that they have what it takes to rule over Team Blue. Who will make their mark on the final show before the first SmackDown LIVE pay-per-view?
After the SmackDown Women’s Title was unveiled on SmackDown Live and a Six-Pack Challenge for that title was announced to crown the inaugural champion at Backlash, up-and-coming Superstar Carmella made am aggressive statement. She attacked Nikki Bella before her SmackDown Live debut match — and then again on Talking Smack.
Will Nikki be out for payback on The Princess of Stanton Island? Yeah, probably. What other competitor will look to make their voice heard as things heats up on the road to SmackDown Live’ first solo pay-per-view.
