This is a story about John Cena, but it’s all about the wedding. Enjoy!
While the date of John Cena’s nuptials to fellow WWE star Nikki Bella remain unknown, we do know one thing: The West Newbury native’s fiancee recently came back from a nine-day bachelorette party in Paris and is plugging along with the wedding planning.
“I know now that she’s back, she’s probably shaking away a pretty big headache, and then they’ll probably get into the nuts and bolts of the wedding,” Cena told Us Weekly.
Cena himself will be skipping the stag night festivities. The Champ has been more than busy, throwing it down on WWE and acting in movies like his upcoming “Blockers.” He’ll also be hosting tonight’s Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. So he’d rather take a chill break instead of a debauchery-packed bachelor party.
“I do all this fun stuff! I guess where there’s not a fun thing to be done, I truly just relax! So, I’m really low-key when it comes to that,” he said.
Along with the exact timing of the Cena-Bella ceremony, the public is also in the dark about whether the occasion will be featured on TV. We all got to bear witness to the proposal, with Cena getting down on one knee during a live broadcast of Wrestlemania last April. But from what Cena says, it sounds like his betrothed will make the call as to whether they’ll exchange vows in front of the world.
“I’m kind of the assistant principal and she’s the principal,” he said. “It’s all up to the boss.”
For what it’s worth, Cena did point out that his bride-to-be and her twin sister, Brie Bella, have given fans a front-row seat into their lives, televising every up and down on their E! series “Total Bellas” and their YouTube channel. So we can hold out hope that the wedding won’t be an exception.
As he put it: “They are so open and the first thing they think about — even when something is genuinely chaotic in their true life — is that because their fans are so dedicated and loyal to them, they feel as if (if they keep something private), they’re robbing them from these experiences.”
